Microfinance

The people of Lwala are pursuing holistic change in their community because they know that poverty, lack of educational opportunity, and disease create a vicious cycle. In the search for self-efficacy, access to microcredit has made a huge difference in many communities, and the people of Lwala are enthusiastically brainstorming about what they could do with access to credit. A host of ideas have come out, everything from women’s group poultry projects to individual fish farming projects to motorcycle taxis. Microfinance is a very active area in international development, and the LCA doesn’t want to reinvent the wheel. We are currently evaluating existing programs and building partnerships to develop a microfinance program in Lwala.
