There are 12 primary schools in the catchment area of the Lwala Community Health Center. Not one of them has adequate sanitation facilities or water access. In fact, studies in the area have shown that more than 68% of elementary age children are carrying intestinal parasites due to poor hygiene and sanitation.
Now in 8 local schools, we are working to address these issues. Through the support of our partner, Blood:Water Mission, we are hosting community-based hygiene and sanitation trainings, building green latrines, and providing clean water access at schools.
