Watch video of the transformation from clinic to hospital
The Lwala Community Health Center opened in April 2007 and offers primary outpatient care, maternal health services, and HIV treatment. The center expanded its space in April 2011 through the addition of a dedicated maternity and integrative health wing and, as a result, is now designated as the Lwala Community Hospital. Each month, approximately 1,700 patients are treated at the hospital. Patients are most frequently treated for malaria, respiratory infections, parasites, diarrhea, HIV, and TB. There are more than 1,000 people on HIV care. Mothers come to immunize their children, seek prenatal care, learn about family planning, and deliver their babies.
