The Lwala Community Alliance provides public health outreach to the communities surrounding the hospital. Focusing on mothers and children under 5, a mobile health unit funded by Ronald McDonald House Charities teaches hygiene and sanitation, malaria prevention, childhood nutrition, family planning methods, and Home-Based Life Saving Skills for mothers during pregnancy. The hospital also hosts a monthly Children’s Club as an outreach to children who are infected and/or affected by HIV. As the public health outreach program grows, education on malaria and HIV will also be provided to local school children.
